Tech Opportunities you can’t miss this February

February 2022 is jam-packed with exciting tech events to start your journey into the programming environment ,that you don’t want to miss. The events range from various scholarships to contests and women in tech conferences. The following are the details for each event:

1. Harvard WECode 2022

Harward WECode(Women Engineers Code) is the world’s largest student-run women in Computer Science conference, hosted by WECode and organized by undergraduate women at Harvard University in the United States, for undergraduate female and non-binary students.

wecode.png This year, Harvard is organizing the eighth iteration of Women Engineers Code which will be held virtually from February 19–20, 2022.

2. TCS CodeVita

It is the largest 24-hour online global computer programming contest where a participant can log in from anywhere, any time. This year marks the 10th season of TCS CodeVita. There will be three rounds of the contest in online mode: Round 1: Pre Qualifier (February 2022) Round 2: Qualifier (March 2022) Grand Finale (April 2022)

Who are eligible for the contest?

Students with year of graduation 2020,2021,2022,2023,2024 and 2025. From institutes across the globe.

Pursuing undergraduate/diploma/postgraduate disciplines from engineering/science background with any specialization. This contest is not open for TCS employees. What’s in it for students? Global ranking to top coders

Top 3 coders to win total a prize money of USD 20,000/-

3. GirlScript Summer of Code

(GSSoC) is a three-month-long open-source program conducted by the GirlScript Foundation Every summer. GirlScript is one of the world’s largest tech communities for students who want to improve and grow their technical skills.

GSSoC was started in 2018 to help beginners get acquainted with Open Source Development. Participants in this program work on a variety of projects under the guidance of skilled mentors.

The program will run from 1st March-31st May 2022.

4. American Express Makeathon

This Hackathon is organised every year for women.American Express hosts the American Express Makeathon on HackerEarth.

american expres.jpg There are two primary phases in this hackathon:

1. Idea submission phase: (January 25 to February 20, 2022)

Participants will form teams on the platform and share ideas/concepts to the proposed real use case problem statement. The HackerEarth team will evaluate the submissions.

2. Mentoring and Prototype Phase: (March 09 to March 28, 2022) Shortlisted participants from the idea submission round will work on prototype solutions/source codes to the proposed problem statement with mentoring from the American Express team. These shortlisted teams will then present their final prototypes on the day of finale. The hackathon winners will be announced once American Express evaluates their presentations.

Teams will have the opportunity to choose 1 out of 4 exciting themes:

-Reinvent Digital Lending

-Investment Solutions

-Smart Cities

-Open Innovation Under Fintech

Eligibility: Women students graduating in the year 2023 & 2024 Students currently pursuing any technical degree from a recognized engineering college in India.

Winning team opportunities: 2023 graduating batch winners will be eligible for a 6-month internship or even a full-time job opportunity. 2024 graduating batch winners will be eligible for either 24 weeks or a summer internship. Prizes worth INR 1,55,000 are up for grabs.

5. GitHub Campus Experts Program

People learn better when they can learn with a community of likeminded peers. Campus Experts are student leaders that strive to build diverse and inclusive spaces to learn skills, share their experiences, and collaborate on projects. They can be found across the globe leading in-person and online conferences, meetups, and hackathons, and maintaining open source projects.

Who can apply? To apply, you must meet the following requirements: Have the GitHub Student Developer Pack Be at least 18 years old and enrolled in a formal higher education institution. Have at least one year before graduating Have had a GitHub account for at least six months
